2026 General Municipal Election

The next general municipal election for the Yellowhead Municipality will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Municipal elections are an essential opportunity for residents to shape the future of our community. This election will determine the representatives for the offices of Mayor and Council Members for the upcoming four-year term.

Information for Prospective Candidates

Prospective candidates are reminded that under Manitoba’s municipal election laws, you must register with the Senior Election Official (SEO) before you can begin many campaign activities, including accepting contributions or incurring campaign expenses.

Registration Dates:

  • Mayor: Registration begins on May 1, 2026.

  • Councillors: Registration begins on June 30, 2026.

Until a candidate is officially registered, they are prohibited from making public campaign announcements or soliciting votes. Nomination papers, which require the signatures of qualified voters, must be filed subsequently during the official nomination period.

Voter Information

To be eligible to vote in the Yellowhead Municipality election, you must be:

  • A Canadian citizen;

  • At least 18 years of age on election day; and

  • A resident or property owner in the municipality for at least six months prior to the election.
